Angel Coin History

On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, a large and extremely violent EF5 tornado ravaged Moore, Oklahoma, and adjacent areas, with peak winds estimated at 210 miles per hour, killing 24 people and injuring 212 others. The tornado was part of a larger weather system that had produced several other tornadoes across the Great Plains over the previous two days, including five that struck portions of Central Oklahoma the day prior on May 19.

"Clutch" contacted "Bear" with OK 10-1 and it was agreed TN 18-1 would send supplies & funds to an offsite location to be distributed at OK 10-1’s discretion to Veteran families in the devastated areas. TN 18-1 first started shipping supplies by LTL carrier with E. Sam Jones Lighting Dist. covering the freight costs on three separate shipments. During this time Butch “Angel” Voss came forward with more donations than anyone else working tirelessly to assist our goal of sending supplies to those in need. After those shipments were sent TN 18-1 was contacted and asked if we would partner with TN Bikers for Oklahoma Tornado Relief, Amerifleet Solutions, and other parties to fill a 40’ trailer with supplies. The trailer was staged off Blackwood Dr. & Bell Rd. "Angel" took on the responsibility of receiving the donations at the trailer during the following days and evenings. He did this while working his full-time job at Kroger, with everyone else filling in the empty time slots.

Oklahoma 10-1 presented Chapter TN 18-1 a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative coin for the effort, support and donations that were provided after the tornadoes at the National meeting that year.  During the August Chapter meeting "Clutch" presented the commemorative coin to "Angel" for his commitment, dedication and hard work during that time.

This started the tradition of the Angel Coin, every year we choose one member that has gone above and beyond to help and assist others in need. The following persons are recipients of the "Angle Coin".
